Ben Laatsch

About:
Ben Laatsch grew up in northeastern Indiana on an organic produce farm tended by his father. It was here, with the help of his mother, a school teacher, that he was exposed to ideas and ideals that where quite different than that of small town Indiana. At the age of twelve, Laatsch was inspired to pick up the guitar after listening to bands as diverse as Jars of Clay and Nirvana.

Not long after starting lessons at a local music store, Laatsch began testing the waters at performing. It was then, during his formative high school years that he started to write songs and develop quickly as an artist. However, It wasn’t until the winter of 2007 that Laatsch would record his first official release, The Magical Suitcase, in San Diego, California.

Laatsch continues to play regionally in the Midwest as much as his college credit hours and lovable `87 Chevy Nova allow him to. His song-writing has often been compared to Jeff Tweedy, The Beatles, Iron & Wine and Califone.
